WVSOM’s Student Information System of choice is Banner by Ellucian. Banner is one of the world’s leading ERP systems designed specifically for Higher Education as a business process management software. Banner allows for highly integrated applications across departments to organize business processes and automate many tasks that previously required manual attention. It provides for longitudinal student record keeping, recruitment/admissions to academic history. WVSOM was the first Higher Education institution in the nation to transition Banner to the Oracle Cloud.
Banner is comprised of two primary components including a self-service module and an administrative module.
Banner Self Service - Personal Information is used by Students, Faculty, and Staff to maintain personal information, contact information and billing information. Self Service Banner can be used by students for Financial Aid, payment of tuition, and unofficial transcript requests. Faculty and staff are able to submit Requisitions with Banner Self Service - Finance for purchase approvals by management and to dynamically query budgets for available funding.
Banner Administrative Pages provides secure Administrative access to our primary database. This system is incredibly integrated across WVSOM departments including HR, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Financial Aid and Admissions.
WVSOM has multiple custom applications built specifically for the Intranet site. From this site, applications and reports are made available to faculty, staff and students. Many reports are developed using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services. Additionally, the institutional dashboard provides reports and statistical information specific to WVSOM created by the IT Development team. Many interfaces are designed to work with 3rd party systems such as WebAdMIT for incoming student applications and the wvOasis state ERP.
We strive to provide efficient solutions for WVSOM business needs in the ever changing landscape of Technology. Whether it is web-based, mobile, or integration with other subsystems.
