History

A group of visionary medical pioneers recognized the need for doctors in West Virginia's rural communities. They envisioned an osteopathic medical school and took up the cause despite critics and naysayers.

Accreditation

The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) is fully accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and by the Higher Learning Commission.
