Voter Registration

The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine maintains a voter registration program in order to provide a service for our employees and our students. This program also is in compliance with the provisions of the following statutes; the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 and the Higher Education Opportunities Act of 2008, which reactivates the Higher Education Act of 1965.

Employees

All new employees will be provided a declination form and a voter registration form when they report to work. Current employees in the process of applying for, recertifying or changing an address or name in connection with benefits will be provided the same documents.

Declination forms, including those marked “yes”, “no” or left blank will be kept in a file by the NVRA coordinator for a period of no less than twenty-two (22) months.

Voter registration applications will be completed with the assistance of the NVRA Coordinator and forwarded to the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office, including the number of declination forms completed. The Director of Human Resources or designee is the NVRA Coordinator for employees.

Students

Incoming students will be provided a voter registration form online from the Registrar’s office. The Registrar will serve as the NVRA Coordinator for the students and provide assistance as necessary.
