Work Study Program
This campus-based Federal Work Study program is authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act. It provides funds for summer and part-time employment for students who demonstrate financial need.
Amount
$15.48 per hour: maximum number of hours per week is 37.5 during the summer and 15 hours during the academic year.
Eligibility
Students who participate in the Federal Work Study program must:
- complete and submit a FAFSA Need Analysis Report.
- have unmet need after deducting the expected student contribution from the budget.
- make satisfactory academic progress as defined by WVSOM.
- be a citizen, permanent resident, or non-citizen recognized by the government as being in the U.S. for other than temporary purposes.
- be registered with the Selective Service Agency if you are required to be registered.
Repayment
Students participating in the Federal Work Study program are not required to repay funds received.

Job Description:
- Assist in planning and coordinating student events and activities.
- Help with setting up and tearing down events.
- Promote events across the campus.
- Serve as an additional point of contact for students seeking information about resources at Student Affairs.
- Aid in the organization of events such as orientation, white coat ceremonies, award ceremonies, receptions, and graduations.
- Conduct surveys and focus groups to gather feedback on events and the campus environment.
- Prepare and organize event materials such as programs, name tags, and informational packets.
- Maintain the organization and cleanliness of our student food pantry, supplies closet, and student club closet which includes stocking, organizing, and cleaning to ensure efficient functioning.
- Update information on display boards in the Student Affairs suite and Student Center. - Ensure all study areas are clean, properly functioning, and well-stocked with necessary supplies to provide students with inviting study spaces and required resources. -Ensure the recreation room is stocked and the equipment is functioning properly.

The WVSOM CRCH aims to drive engagement in rural health across campus, locally, regionally, and statewide through community centric evidence-based education and training, research, and dynamic outreach and engagement opportunities. In collaboration with WVSOM and community-based partners, this position will:
- Assist in design of studies and collection of data related to research opportunities, state fair data on BP’s, future youth research studies/projects, and clinical trial studies.
- Assist with utilization of the Clingman Center for Community Engagement for community events and programs.
- Assist in planning and delivery of CRCH outreach and engagement efforts.
- Assist the CRCH staff in increasing campus presence and student related opportunities.
- Assist and participate in education and training opportunities offered by the CRCH.
