High School Programs

Pipeline activities are conducted for high school students to introduce them to rural/underserved medicine opportunities in West Virginia.

Through these pipelines high school students have toured the WVSOM campus and been introduced to osteopathic medicine and the wide variety of medical related fields in an effort to spark an interest in health care careers.

RHI assists with the following events and activities.

• CPR Training -  RHI students visit local high schools to provide instruction on lifesaving CPR skills to students in grades 7-12..
• Anatomy Lab Tour - The tours are intended to immerse students in multiple learning modalities conducted in the WVSOM human anatomy laboratory facility.
• Pharmacology Camp - The pharmacology camp, "Just Say KNOW to Drugs!" was designed to educate high school students about drugs and how they interact with the body. The one-week program takes place annually in June.
• Collaboration - Collaboration with HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) and HSTA (Health Science and Technology Academy)
• Upward Bound Program
• College Days
