Please consider sponsoring WVSOM's Dancing with the D.O.s event. This fundraising event brings medical professionals and community members together for an evening of dance and philanthropy.

The evening includes dinner, dance performances and opportunities to contribute to student scholarships. It’s a celebration of community spirit showcasing the talents of medical professionals outside their usual roles. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Conference Center in the WVSOM Student Center. Semi-formal attire is encouraged.

Erin McGowan — Class of 2027

No one in my family has done this before. I’m living off loans and recently got engaged, but that is being put off because medical school funds come first. I’m so grateful to donors who support WVSOM students. I got to know the physicians who donated to the scholarship that I received. They were my preceptors during my very first clinical rotation.

“This scholarship is an incredible opportunity for me to be economically free during medical school. I struggle with a chronic illness that is quite expensive in the U.S. Before coming to medical school, I could work and I could be free with being able to pay for that illness, but while in medical school, I can’t work. Because of this scholarship, I am free to study and not feel the burden that comes with my chronic illness.”
