WVSOM shows support for law enforcement

The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) is showing its appreciation for law enforcement as part of “Paint the Town Blue.”

The initiative is part of the West Virginia Auxiliary — Wives Behind the Badge and will culminate on Thursday, Feb. 19. The auxiliary has received support from businesses and residents who have agreed to display blue ribbons in windows and on doors throughout area communities.

Jan Miller, the auxiliary’s director, said that “this idea was born very simply and I’m humbled by the eruption of support that we have seen.” More than 3,600 groups have participated so far.

“Paint the Town Blue” is being held in conjunction with the parent organization’s event “Step Out in Blue,” which encourages supporters of law enforcement to wear blue on the third Thursday of each month.

WVSOM appreciates the local law enforcement officers who serve and protect our communities.
