The Fredric W. Smith Memorial Family Practice Scholarship has been established in 1996 following the untimely death of Mr. Smith, Executive Vice President of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Individual scholarships shall be granted from the available funds. Recipients shall be chosen by the WVSOM Foundation Board of Directors. To be eligible for consideration, the student must be a West Virginia resident who will be entering year two of his/her medical education at WVSOM and who plans to practice family medicine upon completion of education. The student must also be in the upper two thirds of his/her class academically and exhibit a strong interest in school and community welfare.
