Mountain State Osteopathic Postdoctoral Training Institutions, Inc., is a consortium of accredited hospitals and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine which exists to:
- Enhance the quality of osteopathic medical education by promoting collaboration among hospitals, colleges of osteopathic medicine, physicians, health care providers, and academic organizations.
- Support quality education and training for osteopathic students, interns, residents, fellows, and faculty so they might better serve the nation's health care needs. Provide well-trained interns, residents and fellows to improve patient care in under-served and rural areas.
- Support innovation, creativity and excellence in graduate medical education and research.
- Support the development of osteopathic primary care physicians and specialists who, recognizing the interdependence of the body's systems and the ability of the body to heal itself, are committed to providing holistic health care.
- Develop community-based faculty to teach and administer training programs through faculty appointments and faculty development programs in an academic environment.
- Promote the development of an infrastructure that results in preparing appropriate numbers of osteopathic physicians who are educators, researchers and administrators to continue to expand and enhance the osteopathic contribution to the nation's health care system.
