West Virginia University Hospitals, Inc. is located in Monongalia County and serves patients from Monongalia, Marion and Preston Counties. However, as a tertiary care center, it also serves patients from all regions of West Virginia, as well as patients from Pennsylvania, Ohio and other surrounding states.

WVU Hospitals is a 432 bed primary and tertiary care facility. Interns train with a full range of specialty and subspecialty staff physicians. Interns have an opportunity to perform a wide variety of procedures, and have access to the latest diagnostic equipment, including MRI, MRA, SPECT and PET imaging.

Several components comprise WVU Hospitals, including: Ruby Memorial Hospital; WVU Childrens Hospital, which occupies the entire sixth floor of Ruby Memorial Hospital and provides comprehensive care for women and children; Ruby Day Surgery Center; Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center (a level I trauma center) served by emergency air transportation system; Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, West Virginia's only comprehensive care center for diagnosis, treatment, prevention and research; and, the Physician Office Center, West Virginia's largest multispecialty group practice. The Family Medicine Center, where the interns have their continuity of care clinic, is located in the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center adjacent to Ruby Memorial Hospital.
