UHC is a fully equipped hospital in a rapidly growing area. Success as an educational training institution is attributed to a solid educational experience balanced by the recognition of the needs of the interns, residents, and their families. The physicians at UHC are well qualified to teach interns, externs, and residents who receive significant hands-on experience in all departments. The hospital is proud to have one of the largest family practice residency programs in the state. The program produces physicians who are committed to the community and to caring for the whole person, many of those people being in West Virginia. Half of the program's graduates remain in the state, many in Harrison County. The Emergency Medicine Department at United Hospital Center is one of the busiest in the state. The very latest in cancer treatment is offered to patients at The United Cancer Center, and it is one of only 1,300 to qualify as a Community Comprehensive Cancer Program recognized by the American College of Surgeon's Commission on Cancer. UHC also features a Maternal-Child Unit with a single room maternity care system, allowing mothers to labor, deliver, and recover all in the same room. United Hospital Center is on the cutting edge in heart care as well, with a complete program of diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation services. The new Wound Care Center offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment to those suffering with chronic, non-healing wounds. United Hospital Center(UHC) is a 375 bed facility located in Clarksburg, West Virginia. The hospital serves a population of about 250,000 people and is located in the heart of Appalachia, in beautiful, north central West Virginia. Clarksburg offers the best of both country and town living. Fine shops, dining, and social events blend with the scenic mountain beauty and outdoor sports to provide a relaxed lifestyle. |
