DISTANCE LEARNING EVENTS

Mountain State OPTI sponsors three educational lecture series which are broadcast from WVSOM via the OPTI-Link distance learning network to all MSOPTI locations. These programs are open to WVSOM students, Mountain State OPTI interns and residents, and WVSOM/MSOPTI teaching faculty.

Refresher in OPP for Clinical Practice (8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.)

This lecture series features OMT demonstration focusing on the osteopathic approach to diagnosing and treating common medical conditions and diseases. The series is presented by William Lemley, D.O., FAAO, Professor of OMM at WVSOM and is broadcast from WVSOM six times per year.
Refresher in OPP for Clinical Practice Schedule

Workshops in Osteopathic Principles and Practice (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.)

This lecture series emphasizes the differential diagnosis of commonly encountered acute medical conditions. Structural diagnosis and manipulative treatment skills applicable for hospitalized patients are emphasized in the practical component of each workshop. On-site OMT table trainers at each MSOPTI training site assist students, interns and residents with the demonstrated OMT techniques. The workshops are presented by WVSOM OPP faculty and are broadcast from WVSOM four times per year.
OP&P Workshop Schedule

Lunchtime Lecture Series (12:00 Noon - 1:00 p.m.)

This monthly lecture on current clinical topics is broadcast from all Mountain State OPTI locations and is presented by a different WVSOM/MSOPTI teaching faculty member each month.

OTHER EVENTS

House Staff Day

This annual spring event brings together all of the interns and residents enrolled in postdoctoral training programs affiliated with Mountain State OPTI. The program includes educational components, as well as the presentation of the Intern of the Year and Resident of the Year Awards.

WVSOM Hospital Day

This annual event features hospitals and clinics from various locations nationwide. First and second year students at WVSOM have the opportunity to interface with these programs to find out more about the availability of clinical rotations, as well as to explore internship and residency training opportunities.

This year's Hospital Day is tentatively scheduled for November 14, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at The Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV.
