Mission Statement

The Information Technology Department at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine is focused on enhancing the delivery of medical education thru the latest technology initiatives.  We will contribute to the organization by providing the highest standard, most innovative, and quality based technology to faculty, staff, students and statewide campus constituents.

Vision Statement

The Information Technology Department will continually assess the level, quality and delivery of information technology services to WVSOM.  These services will include web, network, database, telecommunication and helpdesk technologies.  We will strive to grow, expand continuous education, and refine techniques for the successful delivery of these IT services.  We will maintain core IT competencies and be 100% accountable in deploying new initiatives and problem solving for current implementations.  Each member of the IT team will contribute and participate in the successful delivery of these services and engage in collaborative communication with the campus community.

Core Values

The Information Technology Department at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine will embrace the following core values in the delivery of technology:

Procedures

  1. All requests for services/information are to be submitted to Helpdesk via Track-it Self Service.
  2. All requests for services will be assigned to a member of computer services for action.  That staff member will communicate with the requestor to discuss details and assign a proposed completion date.
  3. All tasks will be fully documented. Any problems and/or delays will be noted. The requestor will be notified of any problems and/or delays, and this is to be noted. This is the responsibility of the individual assigned to the task.
  4. The WVSOM web site is managed through the Ektron Content Management system.  Appropriate faculty and staff will be trained in the use of the system and permitted to make changes.  Complex changes will be made with assistance of Computer Services and must be submitted to Helpdesk.
  5. Planning and/or development activities will receive specific scheduling and personnel assignments to be coordinated with the Director of Information Technology.
  6. These objectives shall be construed as the operational policies of Information Technology.
