Student Network Access

Two physical networks are present on campus:  one for student use, and one for faculty/staff.  Wired and wireless access is available for use by WVSOM students to gain Internet access.

When connecting to the student network, you are assuming all responsibility for actions made with your computer.

If you have questions regarding acceptable use at WVSOM, refer to the school's Acceptable Use Guidelines.

If you encounter problems with your computer connecting to the student network, or have general questions about networking, call the Computer Services Help Desk at extension 246 or send a message to helpdesk@wvsom.edu.

Computer Services can confirm network access and configurations, but cannot correct problems with the computer or network card.  If your computer does not have a network adapter, various models of Ethernet (wired and wireless) adapters can be purchased from companies such as Netgear or Linksys.

The following protocols or services are banned from the WVSOM student network.  A host that is using or offering one of these services will be removed from the network immediately.  To learn more about the terms below, please reference a site such as WhatIs or Webopedia.
