The AHEC team looked at Healthy People 2010 Objective 2.2 stating:
Increase to 35% the proportion of persons aged 18 and over who have received counseling from their health care provider concerning osteoporosis and/or osteoporosis prevention.
In the course of a screening from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. there were 74 individuals who completed the surveys, 45+ blood pressure readings were done; and over 150 residents were educated on osteoporosis. In the analysis, of the 58 females surveyed, 45% were at moderate risk for osteoporosis and 26% were at high risk.
The average for the question concerning how often has your family doctor discussed osteoporosis with you was 2.2 on a scale of 5, with 1 indicating never and 5 indicating a great amount.
